Typical failure pattern & diagnosis (field-proven)

• Symptom: mower often stops near the boundary wire and shows “Outside”.

• Root cause: intermittent cable break on the microswitch lead from repeated bending at the same spot. Each time the mower bumps an obstacle, the chassis shifts slightly against the top housing and the STOP-lead gets bent. After thousands of bends, the inner conductor cracks.

• Sequence:

  1. The mower drives up to the property edge; the front loop sensor may already be just outside the boundary.

  2. It bumps an obstacle → the cable kinks → STOP briefly triggers → mower stops.

  3. Housing tension relaxes, STOP returns to normal, mower tries to continue.

  4. Since the front loop sensor is still outside, the mower halts with “Outside”.
