Automower Not Following Schedule - Won't Start
← Back to Overview
Problem Description
The Automower does not start at the programmed time or simply stays in the charging station even though mowing time is scheduled. The display or app shows "Parked" or "Today's mowing completed" even though the lawn is not yet fully mowed. This is often not a technical error but a result of settings or environmental conditions.
Affected Models: All models (305, 310, 315, 320, 405X, 415X, 420, 430X, 435X AWD, 440, 450X, 500 series, NERA)
Possible Causes
- Battery temperature outside operating range (too hot or too cold) – Most common cause in summer and winter
- Charging station in temporary stay-out zone – Mower cannot leave station
- Smart Routines or Weather Timer active – Automatic adjustments prevent start
- Mower in wrong mode – Secondary area instead of main area activated
- Clock incorrectly set – Time zone or daylight saving time incorrect
- Battery not charging sufficiently – Weak or defective battery
Step-by-Step Solutions
Solution 1: Check Temperature and Charging Station
Time Required: 2-3 minutes
- Check the app status: Does it say "Battery temperature too high/low"?
- If yes: Move charging station to a shadier location
- In summer: Ensure charging station is not in direct sunlight
- In winter: Adjust operation below 5°C or suspend
- Optimal operating temperature: 5-45°C
Solution 2: Check Settings
Time Required: 5-10 minutes
- Open the Automower Connect App
- Check the current status and last error
- Go to Settings → Schedule
- Check start and stop times
- Verify mode is set to "Main area" (not "Secondary area"!)
- Check time and date
- Temporarily deactivate Smart Routines for testing
Solution 3: Check Temporary Stay-Out Zones
Time Required: 3-5 minutes
- Go in the app to: Map → Map Objects
- Check all temporary stay-out zones
- Ensure the charging station is NOT in a stay-out zone
- Delete or move the stay-out zone if necessary
Solution 4: Check Charging Performance
Time Required: Variable, 5-15 minutes
- If the mower constantly returns to the charging station: Battery is weak or not charging properly
- Check charging contacts for oxidation
- Clean contacts on mower and station
- Mowing time between charging cycles should be at least 70-240 minutes (model dependent)
- If mowing time is significantly shorter: Battery is probably aged
When Should You Consult a Professional?
If the mower does not start despite correct settings and temperatures, there may be a defect in the main board, battery, or charging station. For older mowers (over 4 years), battery replacement is often due. Also, if the app permanently shows error messages, professional diagnostics should be performed.
We offer diagnostics and repair as well as original batteries for all models.
Preventive Measures
- Place charging station in shade – Prevents overheating in summer
- Set generous schedule – Program more hours than theoretically necessary
- Understand Smart Routines – Only use after training, otherwise deactivate
- Check app status regularly – Check once a week
- Keep charging contacts clean – Monthly cleaning
- Store timely in winter – Do not operate below 5°C
