← Back to Overview
Problem: The Automower emits a loud alarm tone and displays "Alarm! Mower stopped" or "Alarm! Mower lifted". The theft protection was activated and the alarm only stops after entering the correct PIN code.

Problem Description

The Automower emits a loud alarm tone and displays "Alarm! Mower stopped" or "Alarm! Mower lifted". The theft protection was activated because the mower was lifted or the STOP button was pressed. The alarm only stops after entering the correct PIN code.

Affected Models: All models with theft protection

Possible Causes

  1. Mower was intentionally lifted (for transport/cleaning) – Normal security function
  2. Child or pet pressed STOP button – Unintentional trigger
  3. Lift sensor triggered – Drove over obstacle or defective
  4. Theft attempt – Alarm serving its purpose
  5. Security level set too high – Too sensitive for normal use

Step-by-Step Solutions

Solution 1: Deactivate Alarm

Time Required: 30 seconds

  1. Press the STOP button (on some models this stops the alarm)
  2. Enter the correct PIN code
  3. The alarm stops
  4. Place the mower back on the lawn
  5. Start normally
This is Not a Malfunction: The alarm is an intended security feature! It protects your mower from theft and prevents injuries when the mower is carried with rotating blades.

Solution 2: Adjust Security Level

Time Required: 3-5 minutes

If the alarm triggers too often without reason:

  1. Go to the Automower Connect app
  2. MoreSettingsSecurity
  3. Select a lower security level:
Low: Alarm only when lifted outside schedule
Medium: Alarm when lifted + time delay
    High: Immediate alarm when lifted
  4. Save the setting
  5. Test if the alarm is still too sensitive
Recommendation: If you frequently need to manually move the mower (e.g., to mow under trampoline), choose "Low" level. For normal use, "Medium" is a good compromise.

Solution 3: Set Alarm Schedule

Time Required: 5 minutes

  1. In the app: SettingsSecurity
  2. Set "Alarm times"
  3. Example: Alarm ONLY active between 8:00 PM and 7:00 AM
  4. This allows you to handle the mower during the day without alarm
Night Mode: Many users activate the alarm only at night when theft risk is highest. During the day, when you're working in the garden, the alarm is deactivated.

When Should You Consult a Professional?

With a defective lift sensor, the alarm triggers constantly, even when the mower is on level ground. Then sensor replacement is necessary. If the alarm cannot be turned off, there may be a software or hardware defect. We offer professional diagnosis and sensor repair.

Preventive Measures

  • Store PIN code securely – Do NOT stick on mower or in charging station!
  • Adjust security level to your needs – Not too high, not too low
  • Inform family about function – Children often don't know what the alarm means
  • Activate GPS tracking (for Connect models) – Additional theft protection
  • Park Automower securely at night – In garage or behind gate/fence
  • Change boundary wire code – Prevents use of other charging stations
Pro Tip: Save your PIN code in your password manager (e.g., 1Password, LastPass) or take a photo of the purchase receipt showing the default PIN. Many people forget their changed PIN and then have to go to the dealer to reset it.
PIN Forgotten? If you've forgotten your PIN code, you can reset it on newer Connect models via the app (More → My Mower → Mower Data → "Forgot PIN code"). For older models, you must use the security code or go to the dealer.
