You have forgotten the PIN code of your Automower and can no longer start the mower. After several incorrect entries, the device locks temporarily and the waiting time increases with each failed attempt. An alarm may sound depending on the security settings. This is a common problem when buying used devices or after a long winter break.

Affected Models: All models with PIN code function (305, 310, 315, 320, 405X, 415X, 420, 430X, 435X AWD, 440, 450X, 500 series, NERA)

Possible Causes

  1. PIN code not used for a long time and forgotten – After winter break or extended non-use
  2. Used device purchased – Previous owner's code is unknown
  3. Multiple users with different codes – Confusion of PINs
  4. Code accidentally changed and forgotten – New PIN not noted

Step-by-Step Solutions

Solution 1: Restore PIN Code via App (for newer models)

Time Required: 2-5 minutes

Prerequisites: Automower Connect App, Bluetooth/WLAN/Mobile connection to mower

For newer models (firmware from 10.12.2021):

  1. Open the Automower Connect App
  2. Go to: More → My Mowers → Mower Data
  3. Scroll to "Forgot PIN code" and tap on it
  4. PIN will be sent via email to all linked users
  5. Enter the new PIN code

Alternative for 415X, 435X AWD, 500 series:

  1. Make sure you are within Bluetooth range
  2. Open the Automower Connect App
  3. When prompted for PIN: Tap "Forgot PIN code"
  4. PIN will be sent via email
Tip: Also check your spam folder if the email doesn't arrive within 5 minutes. The email comes from noreply@husqvarnagroup.com

Solution 2: Retrieve Security Code from Mower (for older models)

Time Required: 5 minutes + dealer contact

For older models without app function:

  1. Press and hold button "9" for 5 seconds
  2. Display shows serial number and 12-digit letter code (e.g., MEPI DYHJ IIGF)
  3. Note the serial number and letter code
  4. Contact a Husqvarna dealer with this information
  5. Dealer can create PIN code (proof of purchase required!)
Important: For models 220AC, 230ACX only 5 letters are displayed. The dealer absolutely requires proof of purchase – this serves as theft protection.

Solution 3: Without Connection to Mower

Time Required: 10-30 minutes

  1. Contact your authorized Husqvarna dealer
  2. Have proof of purchase and serial number ready
  3. As theft protection: Proof of purchase is mandatory
  4. Dealer can reset PIN (usually via remote access)
Finding Serial Number: The serial number is on a sticker under the mower or on the back of the housing. It usually starts with "2" and has 9-11 digits.

When Should You Consult a Professional?

For used devices without proof of purchase, only the dealer can help with special tools. Without proof of legitimate origin, no reputable dealer will reset the PIN (theft protection). If you purchased a used device without proof of purchase, you need written confirmation from the previous owner.
